Psychic Medium Karina Collins on Trust, the Flaws of Perfection, and when to Binge on Netflix

Karina Collins is an Irish Psychic Medium who, “in another life”, worked in London in HR and Marketing in Dublin until she was inspired to move her life into a completely new direction. She has studied at the prestigious Arthur Findlay College for Psychic development and worked with TV mediums like Tony Stockwell and James van Praagh.

In our conversation, we discuss why she chose the path she did and the number one piece of advice she gives clients seeking their own way in life.

What made you want to be a Psychic?

It happened out of the blue! I was 30 with a successful corporate career and one morning I woke up and wondered ‘is this it?’. Not so much, is this my life – but rather, is this life? I was suddenly overwhelmed by the need to know what happens after we die.

Up until then, the thought had rarely crossed my mind.

I had no interest in the matter, and even far less belief in the psychic world. Sure, I had uncanny intuition, but we don’t always realise we have a gift when it has always been present. I was suddenly obsessed.

I booked myself into a psychic school in London, certain that I would discover nothing but driven to check it out all the same. Within days I had received so much proof of life after death, I realised then that there was no turning back.

How could life ever be the same again?

If we don’t die, then there is a purpose to life. Ask yourself this – if you knew for certain, had seen evidence with your own eyes, that there is an existence beyond what you are experiencing – how would that change your life? Makes it kind of hard to go back or “ordinary” living.

What’s your most valuable skill as a psychic?

Sensing someone’s life purpose. I can sense why you are here and what direction in life you should go.

This reading, which is my most popular, is called a Spiritual Assessment. We are all here to do something special and meaningful. Miracles are possible, I work with people everyday who are transforming their lives from the dull to extraordinary.

What has been the most valuable tool for you in your profession?

Tarot cards. The Tarot is a powerful tool, not only can it reflect the future, but it can also give guidance on how to adjust your path to make it even brighter. The first time I picked up a deck of Tarot, I felt like we were old friends. It was more like remembering than meeting for the first time.

Anyone who is a natural Tarot reader will experience the same familiarity.

If you are drawn to the Tarot cards, you are meant to learn how to use them. My book on learning how to do Tarot will be out next year, I really hope to encourage more people to follow in my steps.

What is a good tarot card set to start with? Does it matter?

Rider Waite Tarot, I personally believe it’s the best one. Everyone can and should be reading Tarot, it’s like having a personal guru on speed dial!

If you have a problem, simply drawing one card for guidance could provide you with all the answers you need.

What’s the hardest thing about your job?

I get so excited when I’m reading for someone and see all the potential, exciting opportunities ahead of them. Occasionally however, it’s clear that the person is resistant to change and will miss those opportunities. Their future is bleak when it could be amazing. This is when I need to be at my most inspirational, to paint a picture of how things could be, if they would only help themselves. This, by the way, is nothing to do with age. Last week one of my clients, who is 70 years of age and is certainly not afraid of change, needed help deciding between two offers for her hand in marriage. She was exploring every exciting opportunity on offer! By comparison, another client who is only 25 and stuck in a bad relationship, just can’t find the motivation to leave and start afresh.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Don’t try to be perfect. The only way to be perfect is do nothing or risk nothing.

What’s the biggest misconception people have about what you do?

That a psychic should know everything. If that were true, my name would be God. As a psychic, we are only given information that helps the person move forward in life. For example, sometimes what seems like a disaster, IS your dream coming true.

A while back I gave a reading to a client who was desperate to fall in love and have a baby before her 45th birthday. I told her by mid-summer she would meet a man she had known in her younger years and they would get together and have a baby. The cards did not provide anymore information beyond that. She did the man. She had known him from her youth and they did move in together and have a baby. 3 months later he left her, never to be seen again. She was devastated. Had she known it would end this way, she told me, she would never have got together with him! But what about the beautiful gift he left you, I asked? She smiled and looked down at her baby. True, she said. One year later she met another man, and they were perfect soulmates. Now they are married, and as it happens, he can’t have children – but he absolutely adores his adopted son! All’s well that ends well. Sometimes we just need to have a little faith.

What’s the number one thing you repeat to your clients?

Trust. Trust, trust!

Trust that whatever happens in life, it happens for a reason. So if something doesn’t work out, it does not mean you are unlucky. Never, ever believe you are unlucky. You are lucky if you decide you are.

I tell my clients: Do you trust the Universe has your back?

Let’s look at it the other way. If you don’t trust, the sign is a tendency to allow failure to put you off trying again.

After all, if you trusted, you’d assume there is a bigger plan and it will all make sense in the end. Your job is simply to keep trusting, to keep trying and to keep putting yourself out there.

You can repeat as many positive affirmations as you like, but they are useless if you don’t have trust in your heart.

In the last six months, what’s been a product that has positively impacted your life that costs under $100?

Pedometer. It forces me to step away from my computer and take care of my body. The body is the vehicle of the soul, and mine needs 10,000 steps a day!

What’s been the biggest triumph of your career?

How fast my psychic work has taken off. I woke up one morning asking the question – is there life after death? 6 months later I was a full-time Tarot reader with a long list of clients. It happened so quickly, and yet it seemed perfectly normal. My international client list grew in subsequent years because of Facebook, I started with about 50 followers it’s currently about 180,000. When you do what feels right, without fear, the Universe sends every assistance to build your dream.

What do you credit for growing so fast?

Passion, a strong desire to open people’s eyes, as mine were. The spirit world is there, waiting for you to spend time with it. It is waiting to help you achieve miracles with your life.

My background in communication has helped me to focus and deliver my message in a simple way. There are no coincidences when it comes to your career path. Even if you have chopped and changed careers ten times, all those experiences are adding up. When the time is right, you will  align with a special job or business, which is uniquely perfect for you and your experiences.

When you feel overwhelmed or unfocused, or have lost your focus temporarily, what do you do? (If helpful: What questions do you ask yourself?)

Have a glass of wine and watch something on Netflix. I love all the supernatural series of course! Doing something ‘normal’ is grounding. Then, when I return, everything is settled again.

Or what are one to three books that have greatly influenced your life?

Feeling is the Secret by Neville Goddard (written way before The Secret and the new term Law of Attraction).

Old Souls by Tom Shroder (you can’t but believe in past lives after reading this).

The Field by Lynne Mctaggart (where science and psychic phenomona are beginning to connect).

If you could have a gigantic billboard anywhere with anything on it — metaphorically speaking, getting a message out to millions or billions — what would it say and why?

Stop second guessing yourself, just do it!
